Universal Pull The Plug On Wet n’ Wild
With so many announcements lately coming from the Universal Orlando Resort, it came as no surprise to most that Wet n’ Wild would be on the chopping block with the announcement of Volcano Bay coming to the resort in 2017.
Since its opening in 1977 almost 4 decades of Wet ‘n Wild Orlando. It has been a place where guests have created wonderful memories. As America’s first water park, Wet ‘n Wild has been the birthplace of numerous innovations that are now considered a common part of the water park experience.
On December 31st 2016 Wet n’ Wild will close those gates permanently, however with how quickly Universal work it won’t stay empty long.
Wet n’ Wild has been owned by Universal since 1998. The company was leasing the land until 2013, when it purchased Wet ‘n Wild’s 50-plus acres for $30.9 million from Seaworld.
Tom Schroder said ” there will be a place for Wet n’ Wild team members over at Volcano Bay or anywhere else on Universal Orlando property” and that its “too soon to discuss what will happen with the land”.
